課程概述	This course is the completion of the 3rd/4th –year composition sequence and aims to prepare DFLL students for graduate-level work in DFLL or similar humanities departments. The goal is to get students writing strong, sustained critical arguments, supplementing these arguments with properly cited secondary material.
課程目標	This course is the completion of the 3rd/4th –year composition sequence and aims to prepare DFLL students for graduate-level work in DFLL or similar humanities departments. The goal is to get students writing strong, sustained critical arguments, supplementing these arguments with properly cited secondary material.
課程要求	Grading is based on class participation as well as writing assignments. It is assumed that students will come to all classes and submit all assignments on time. The main assignments are (1) a paper on Conrad’s novella “Heart of Darkness” and related criticism [7-10 pp.] and (2) a substantial research paper on a topic to be determined by the student [15-20pp]. There will be other assignments related to both of these research projects. THERE WILL BE NO EXTENSIONS FOR THE FINAL PAPER.
